Who we are
Ehsaas is a voice-calling app operated by Ehsaas, in India. In this policy, "we" means the operator of the app and "you" means the person using it.
For anything in this document, you can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
We collect what the app needs to work, and we have tried not to collect more than that.
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Recordings of your calls | Every call is recorded so our safety team can check what happened if someone reports abuse — voice calls as audio, and video calls with picture as well. Recordings are deleted automatically after 24 hours, and are only opened when a call has been reported. Both people on a call are recorded — on a video call that means both cameras. Recordings are never shared publicly, and never with the other person. |
| Your approximate location — your city, if you allow it | Only to put people in the same city nearer the front of the queue when we match you. We ask for coarse location, never precise, and we store your city and an approximate area rather than your coordinates. Saying no changes nothing except match ordering, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. It is never shown to anyone you talk to. |
| Your mobile number | It is how you sign in. We verify it with a one-time code sent by SMS through our messaging provider. |
| Your profile — name, gender, age, languages, interests, state, an avatar and an optional short bio | To match you with people you can actually hold a conversation with, and to enforce the 18+ rule. Your gender is fixed once you sign up, because it decides whether your account takes calls as a creator. |
| If you take calls as a creator: a short selfie video of you reading two lines on camera | To confirm that the person taking calls is who the profile says she is, and keep fake profiles out. The video is stored privately, is never shown on your profile or to callers, and is reviewed only by our safety team. Three still frames from it are also checked by an AI service that gives our reviewers an advisory score — a person always makes the decision. |
| Things you send — chat messages, photos, voice notes, stories, and a creator's recorded voice introduction | To deliver them to the person you sent them to, and to investigate them if someone reports them. |
| Call and room records — who spoke to whom, when, and for how long | To bill the caller correctly, pay the creator correctly, and settle disputes about either. This is the record that a call happened and how long it ran — not the audio of it. |
| Ratings you give, and reports you make or receive | To keep the platform usable and to act on abuse. |
| Money records — coin balance, purchases, earnings, and the UPI ID a creator gives us for withdrawals | To credit purchases, pay creators, and keep the financial records we are legally required to keep. |
| If a creator chooses to add it: her full name, PAN number, and a photo of her PAN card | Optional. Used only to verify her identity for payouts and for the tax records we are required to keep. It is stored privately and seen only by the people who process payouts. |
| Technical basics — a push notification token, when you were last active, how the app is used (which screens are opened and which features are used), and crash reports | To send you the notifications you have not muted, to show whether someone is online, and to find and fix problems in the app. Usage and crash data describe the app and your device, not the content of your calls or messages. |
| Your device's advertising ID, and a basic "app opened" signal | To tell whether someone installed Ehsaas after seeing one of our ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), so we know which ads work. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your phone's Settings (Privacy, then Ads). |
What we don't collect
These are as important as the list above, so they are stated as commitments rather than left as an absence:
- We do not track where you are. If you allow location, we take a single approximate reading to work out your city and use it only to order matches. We do not follow your movements, we do not keep a history of places you have been, and we never store your exact coordinates. If you say no, the app works exactly as before.
- We do not watch or listen to your calls as they happen, and we do not keep recordings beyond 24 hours. A recording is only opened if somebody reports that call.
- Your camera is only on when you are using it — during a video call you joined (you can switch it off at any point), while a creator records her verification selfie, or while she photographs her PAN card. The app never uses your camera in the background.
- We do not read your contacts. The app never uploads your phone book.
- We do not sell your personal information. The only thing we share for advertising is the small ad-measurement signal described under "Who we share it with" (your device's advertising ID and basic app events), so we can tell whether our own ads led to an install. We never share your calls, messages, profile, phone number or contacts with advertisers.
If any of this ever changes, it will change in this document first, and we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
How we use it
We use what we collect to:
- run the app — sign you in, match you, connect calls, deliver messages;
- charge you correctly for calls and credit creators correctly for them;
- keep people safe — verify creators, investigate reports, remove content that breaks our rules, and ban accounts that abuse others;
- find and fix crashes and problems in the app;
- send notifications you have not turned off, such as an incoming call or an unread message;
- meet our legal obligations, including keeping financial records and responding to lawful requests.
We do not make decisions about you purely by automated means that produce a legal effect on you. Two things are partly automated, and both lead to a human: the AI check on a creator's verification video only gives our reviewers a score, and if several different callers report that a creator is not a woman, her profile is paused from receiving calls until she records a new verification video and a person reviews it.
How long we keep it
- Stories are deleted automatically about 24 hours after they are posted.
- Call recordings — audio, and video where the call had video — are deleted automatically 24 hours after the call ends. If a call was reported and the report is still being reviewed, that recording may be kept until the review is finished, and is deleted afterwards.
- Creator verification videos are kept only while they are needed — for the review itself and any follow-up, such as a re-verification or a challenge to the decision — and are then deleted. Recording a new video replaces the previous one.
- PAN details and the PAN photo are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, like other payout records.
- Messages stay in the conversation until the account is deleted.
- Your account and profile stay until you delete them — see below.
- Financial records — purchases, earnings and payouts — are kept even after account deletion, for as long as tax and accounting law requires. These records identify a transaction, not your conversations.
- Safety records — a record of bans and upheld reports — may be kept after deletion so that a banned account cannot simply be recreated.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- ask what personal data of yours we hold, and how it is being used;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- ask us to erase your data, subject to the retention rules above;
- withdraw consent you have given — note that withdrawing consent to the basics means we can no longer run an account for you;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated;
- complain to us, and then to the Data Protection Board of India.
Most of these you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, write to[email protected] and we will respond within 15 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app, under Settings, or by requesting it on our account deletion page. Deleting removes your profile, your messages, your stories, your follow relationships and any creator verification video.
What survives deletion: financial records we are required to keep, and the safety records described above. Nothing that survives contains the content of your conversations.
Adults only
Ehsaas is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data about anyone younger. If we find that an account belongs to a minor, we remove it and delete the data. If you believe a minor is using the app, tell us at [email protected] and we will act on it.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — if a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Changes
When this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and ask you to accept the new version in the app. This version was published on 7 October 2026.
